After the other night of WoW being down, I didn’t get a chance to play it for a few nights, but last night I jumped on. First time I have spent a good amount of time playing in more than 2 patches. I noticed that they still have issues with a few instances that I played. I have yet to see any weather. Maybe I was not in the correct place for long enough, but I am interested in seeing it. From the vid’s i watched it looked good.

I also creped one step closer to lvl 60 last night, I am now up to lvl 55. I can’t wait to start getting some new gear, the stuff I have at the moment is getting a little old. I will have to start hassling my guild buddies to do some of the instances that I need to get some of the new gear I want.

For those of you who are interested, you can check out my character profile here. It is updated most nights that I play WoW.

Till next time.

Went to play WoW tonight for the first time in ages, and found that the realm that I usually play on was down. After checking the status page for all the realm’s i found that most of them are down :( .

Did a bit of searching for the reason on their forums but found nothing, then I found this post on google. Seems like WoW’s ISP is having trouble with something, which makes it hard for us to play games.

I will probably wait around for another hour or so and see what happens, but it looks like it will probably be down for a while.

For those of you who don’t know what WoW is, check out their website: www.worldofwarcraft.com. It is a MMORPG based on the World of Warcraft series of games. If you were a fan of the 1st 2nd and 3rd World of Warcraft games, then you will love this. Be warned though, it is very addictive, and once you start playing, it will be hard to stop.

Hope it gets fixed soon… I am itching to play for a few hours….

Sorry it has taken a few days, but I have some of the photo’s I took form the 84th floor of the Eureka Tower.

You can look at them here. Please excuse the reflections from the window, it was hard to hold the camera still and cover the lens to stop reflections, so these are the better shots.

I know some of you are wondering how I was able to get up there. Well I am lucky enough to have a friend that was doing some work for channel 10, and as some of you might know, they were broadcasting some sections of Sports tonight from the 84th floor of the Eureka Tower :) .. Well suffice to say, my friend got me a pass up, and I was able to look around the whole floor, and also take some pictures.

They had 2 microwave links for the Sports Tonight broadcast, one main one pointing at Mt Dandenong, and the second pointing to a building on Collins street, and it was funny because the person that setup the Collins street link, said that it was the first time he had ever had to tilt the transmitter/receiver down to get the signal. That is how high we were :)

I will be posting a few more processed shots to my website soon, you will be able to see them in the Photography section of my photo album.

Till next time.

The Commonwealth Games are now over. Sunday night was the closing ceremony, we went down to the Yarra River and sat with some friends. They did not have any screens along the banks, which made it hard to know what was happening, but every now and again, there was a burst of fireworks from the MCG.

At about 10:20pm the whole thing came to an end, there was a huge fireworks display, from the MCG, the Fish on the river, and from some of the buildings in the city. It was really loud.

Another highlight of the night was that I got to go to the 84th floor of the Eureka Tower here in Melbourne. I went up before we got to the Yarra (on the way) and it was amazing. The lift was really quick, much faster than i thought it would be considering how many floors it had to go up. The floor has 360 degree views of Melbourne. It was night when I went up, so I could not see very far, but the view was great all the same. I have a few photo’s that I took while up there, I will be posting them up later.

When I have uploaded the photo’s from the Closing Ceremony and from the 84th floor, I will add some links to a new post.

Olympus has a new comera on the market. The E-330 is the first DSLR to have “Live View”, which in short is what the P&S digital cameras have had all along. DPreview have one of the first full reveiws of the camera. and over at engadget they also have a quick little write up about it.

I will not attempt to give a review of it here, for one, I have never seen the camera in real life, and secondly, there is already a great review at DPreview. I will however give my opinion on the camera.

First up, the Live View is obviously the main feature that everyone will be talking about with this camera. I realy dont think that there is really any use for it. Sure it might make the P&S users happy, they can now say that they have a DSLR, but are they really going to know how to use all the advanced features of a DSLR and make the most of it?

There are always pros and cons for everything, but I dont think that this will be as good as everyone hopes. And I hope that canon dont follow and start adding live view to their DSLR’s.

I have been apart of an IRC network for a while now, and just thought that I would let people know about it.

The name of the network is EYErc.net (as the title of this post says :) ). It has been around since late 2003, and is mainly an Australian IRC network, not that it is only for Australians, as we have a few overseas users as well. There is currently 4 in the network and an average of about 30 channels. You can see some more stats at gogloom.com.

If you would like to come chat with us, fire up your favourite IRC client (I use HydraIRC), and use irc.eyerc.net as the server. You can visit the EYErc.net website at www.eyerc.net.

If you are not sure what IRC is, head over to wikipedia.org and have a quick read of that article.

Not much to say today. I have been busy at work with a new customer coming on today.

The athletics last night was great. We had very good seats, they were 3 rows from the track, and on the finish line, so was able to get some good photo’s and see some good finishes.

I have managed to upload the photo’s from the athletics, so you can go and check them out here on the photo album.

The pics are straight from the camera, and have only been re-sized, I will be going through them over the next few days and processing some of the better shots, and they will be put in my Photography photo album. I will put a post up when I upload them.

I will also be uploading the un-porcessed Marathon photos soon (after the athletics are all up), so check back for a post.

I was luckey enough to score some A class tickets to the Athletics tonight! Got them a bit cheaper than what they were sold for, the person I got them off, had to go overseas quickly for some reason, so was unable to use them.

It should be good, these are the events that we get to see:

Men’s Decathlon Javelin Throw Combined Group 1
Women’s Triple Jump Final Final 1
Men’s 110m Hurdles Final Final 1
Men’s 400m Semifinals Semifinal 1
Men’s 400m Semifinals Semifinal 2
Men’s 400m Semifinals Semifinal 3
Women’s Heptathlon Shot Put Combined Group 1
Women’s 1500m Final Final 1
Men’s Decathlon 1500m Combined Heat 1
Women’s Discus Throw Final Final 1
Women’s 10000m Final Final 1
Women’s Heptathlon 200m Combined Heat 1
Women’s Heptathlon 200m Combined Heat 2
Women’s 400m Final Final 1

Had to go out and buy some binoculars because I didnt have any, and sitting in the MCG I doubt that we would see much that was happening on the other side of the ground.

I will be taking my camera with the 75-300 zoom, you are only ment to take a max of a 200 zoom in, but I dont think they will be able to tell the difference, it is not very big (the lense) and not one of the white pro lenses.

I will pe putting up some pictures from the marathon that I went to on Sunday, and will probably put up some of the pics I take tonight if there are any good ones.
